Ancestors of Adam Luke John BASTON of Andover, Hampshire, UK
John Joseph BASTON
1802 Tabernacle Walk, Baptism, St Leonard's Church, (probably
called John Joseph as his brothers John and Joseph had both died in
1828 Tilley St, Painter, Baptism of Mary Ann.
1831 Heneage Street, Painter, Baptism of son Frederick William.
Note: I have been unable to find his burial which I suspect was in
Southwark as that is where his only surviving child, Frederick Baston was living
with his aunt, Mary Cole (née Baston). There is a burial of a John Bastable
31st March 1844 aged 40 (right age) at St Mary Newington, this may be our John
with a mis-spell of the surname. A considerable number of the registers for the
area have been destroyed, most in the second world war. I have also checked all
the relevant burial registers for the Shoreditch/Whitechapel area in case he
died at the same time as his wife Mary in the 1832 Cholera outbreak
Henry married Jane Seares about 1 year after Mary Ann Seares was
born and I therefore strongly suspect he was the father.
1814 Born St John's Lane, Clerkenwell
1833 Married Henry Atkinson, St Giles, Cripplegate.
1841 Census age 25, Featherstone Street, Finsbury with daughter/sister Mary
1851 Census age 35, 74 Lisson Grove North, Marylebone.
1861 Census age 46, East Road, Walbrook Road Shoreditch.
1867 Death age 53, 2 Tabernacle Row, City Road, St Lukes.
Shown as a Tailor on son Henry's marriage certificate in 1844.
I've been looking for a Jacob born about 1774 for a number of years and
came across Jacob baptised 1774 to John & Sarah, not only do the family
names follow through but it also appears that there was a connection with
Monmouth in John & Sarah's family, which is where our Jacob's wife was born.
Her maiden name is probably Gibbs as she uses this on the 1871
Widow of Jacob according to death certificate.
1873 informant on mother Mary Noble's death certificate as Sarah
Dean? - yes, married James Dean in 1852.
ID: Merged with a record that used the ID RIN264+51

(He was baptised as Phillip James and uses this on his first marriage but on
his second marriage it is entered as James Phillip but he signs as Phillip
Eliza Jemima CADE
1852 Remarried in Bethnal Green to Henry Pearson.
It looks as though Thomas Goodwin & Susan (Ann) Rothwell never
actually married, that could account for the reason why all her children
used their mother's maiden name of Rothwell throughout their later lives.
I think Thomas' full name was John Thomas Goodwin (CAH).
I've added Susan in here to William & Caroline as I'm almost
certain she belongs to this family, can't be Ann Susan baptised 1822 as she
died aged 5 so is probably the Susan Rothwell baptised 1824 St Andrew's,
Holborn to William & Sarah Caroline Rothwell.
